Barbara Hepworth Building
Project Information
The Barbara Hepworth Building is the new home of the University of Huddersfield’s Faculty of Art, Design and Architecture—a flexible, collaborative hub that unites all design disciplines. Its open layout and integrated learning spaces reflect the University’s ambition to become a leading destination for design education and form a major part of the campus masterplan. Now a landmark within Huddersfield Town Centre, the building showcases both innovation and identity.
We were appointed as the University’s NEC Supervisor and were proud to support the delivery of this award-winning project.
Mechanical & Electrical Services
Following the appointment of the M&E sub-contractors, we reviewed the full mechanical and electrical services design and carried out regular site inspections to ensure compliance with standards, contract requirements, and the University’s expectations.
Through ongoing attendance at design and progress meetings, alongside consistent quality monitoring, we helped ensure the building met its performance, safety, and design aspirations.
The project has received several major awards, including:
-
Constructing Excellence National Awards 2019 – Project of the Year
-
Northern Design Awards 2019 – Commercial Build
-
